Responsible Aquaculture Foundation

Research Programs

rafsmThe Responsible Aquaculture Foundation has been established for the purposes of providing research, training, sharing critical knowledge and building a community of global aquaculture practitioners at all levels. This will assist the fast-growing aquaculture sector in evolving systems that enable viable production that is environmentally, socially and economically responsible.

Today, aquaculture accounts for 50% of the global consumption of finfish and shellfish. In a recent report, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations concluded that number will likely grow to 70% by 2030. This growth will be driven by demand and nations’ need for food security. The Responsible Aquaculture Foundation believes that growth in aquaculture production should not come at the expense of the environment or the global community.
