Responsible Aquaculture Foundation

rafsmThe Responsible Aquaculture Foundation (RAF) has been established for the purposes of providing research, training, sharing critical knowledge and building a community of global aquaculture practitioners at all levels. This will help to enable the fast growing aquaculture sector evolve on systems that enable responsible, viable production environmentally, socially and economically.

Today aquaculture accounts for 50% of the global consumption of finfish and shellfish. In a recent report the FAO concludes that number will likely grow to 70% by 2030. This growth will occur driven by demand and nations’ need for food security. The Responsible Aquaculture Foundation (RAF) believes the growth in aquaculture production should not come at the expense of the environment or the community.
